Dear Fred,

You moved in the neighborhood, right across the street.

Our families were very quick to say hello and meet.

Our kids rapidly became the best of friends.

Now the sleepovers never seem to end.

Although you’re a smart ass and the digs never quit,

You can tell a hell of a story around the fire pit.

The one legged vet makes us laugh until we cry.

We can’t top that story, so why even try?

We love watching you parent and be a good hubby.

We watch you ride your bike so that you don’t get chubby.

Whether you’re working or playing you are “non-stop Fred”.

Or as Michael Scott would say, “That’s what she said!”

So even though you are weird about signs and potluck things,

There’s so much more to our lives that you bring.

We trust you with our children and that says a lot.

So you’re stuck with us whether you like it or not.

You have a quiet strength and integrity that comes from inside.

It makes people want to be with you on this life’s crazy ride.

So if you can’t tell, we think you’re amazing and top notch stuff,

And we’d like to be you when we finally grow up.

So with the memories we’ve made and the laughter we’ve shared,

You’ve become just like family, and our hearts have been snared.

Fred, we are so glad to know you and call you our friend,

So on your 40th birthday it’s best wishes and love that we send!
